We're always looking for enthusiastic and reliable referees! Whether you're a current Oztag player or just someone who enjoys staying active, refereeing is a great way to get involved and earn some extra money.

What We Expect from Our Referees:

✅ Be punctual and reliable — your game times will be set at least 4 days in advance. If you're unwell or unavailable, it's your responsibility to arrange a replacement.
✅ Show respect to all players and fellow referees.
✅ Be confident and positive — help build morale and support new teams as they learn the rules.
✅ Represent our competition with professionalism and enthusiasm — every game matters!

Pay Structure:
You'll start on a base rate of pay, which will be disclosed once you complete your Level 1 Refereeing Exam. From there, you can progress through the pay tiers as you're assessed by our senior referee coordinators.

  1. Complete the Level 1 Refereeing Exam on the Australian Oztag website:

  2. Once completed, email us at newcastlejnrs@oztag.com.au for JUNIOR referees OR newcastle@oztag.com for SENIOR referees.

  3. We’ll send you a short form and add you (or your parent’s number) to our WhatsApp group for all future communication.
